Political Action Committee (PAC)
HBAM has its own PAC in addition to a PAC for each of our member counties and Baltimore City. Each PAC solicits contributions from HBAM members and holds annual fundraising events so that we have the ability to make financial contributions to state and local political candidates that support the home building industry. Strong PACs mean we can influence lawmakers and politicans with respect to issues that affect our industry.
lori@homebuilders.org
Policy Partners
For several years, HBAM has been under-writing benchmark studies that have been essential in helping us build our case that:
the buildable inventory, across the region, is precariously low (2003 University of Maryland study by Dr. Gerrit Knaap); that
counties and municipalities must be accountable for maintaining a responsible development capacity (2001 RESI/Towson university Study of Baltimore County); and that
at specific price points, new residential construction is a net contributor to a county’s tax base. (2004 Optimal Solutions Group, Anirban Basu and RESI/Towson University.)
This year’s initatives include our leadership participation in “Maryland Reality Check Plus”; our participation on the Board of Directors of the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore; and our annual Growth Conference in which we gather with important elected and appointed officials throughout the region to discuss issues critical to your future. Policy Partners, are those members who have been willing to write significant checks to fund this essential work.

The mission statement of the council is that it represents and serves the interests of its members by offering a variety of educational programs designed to increase industry knowledge and education. It provides networking opportunities where members can meet with and be instructed by other industry leaders; it increases awareness in the consumer market for the value of various certification programs and it offers recognition and credibility to remodeling professionals who excel in the industry through the Awards of Excellence program. One seat on the HBAM Remodelers’™ Council is included with a Remodeler Membership to HBAM. Additional seats can be obtained for other employees of the member company at $65 each. Members of the Council receive a free subscription to Professional Remodelor and Chesapeake Home magazine as well as NAHB Renews and HBAM’s HomeFront, monthly e-newsletters about national and local news that affects our industry. A section in each HomeFront issue is set aside for the council to promote it’s members, programs and events.
